Anonymous asked: What's your opinion of other exotic mammal pets, such as savannah cats?
I love all animals, exotic, domestic or wild, regardless of their specie (okay, I might have a little phobia when it comes to the super tiny spiders!).
I owned an African deer that I rescued from poachers back in 2006, while I lived in Ethiopia.
I take in homeless cats during wintertime and feed them.
I had a couple of chipmunks and a grey squirrel a few years ago, all found injured or orphaned. I released them back into the wild at a proper age.
I had two hedgehogs in the past, as well as a mouse and two geckos.
I grew up on a farm in Romania surrounded by goats, chicken, dogs, cats, cows, sheep and turkeys.
When I was 3-4 years old, I used to stare at snails and heart worms for countless minutes.
I also had a turtle, a garden snake and a few little injured birds, all of which I had taken care of and released back into their habitat.
I love Savannah cats! While I was in Ethiopia, driving through the wilderness on our way to Bale Mountains for a little hike, a wild adult Serval jumped in front of the car (which was driving slowly, so we stopped at his sight), hissed at the car, showing his beautiful but deadly pearly teeth, then ran off through the fields. I jumped out of the car and ran after it, I can’t explain why, but I just did. I think it’s because of his beauty that threw me off, I wanted to catch a glimpse of that stunning creature before it was too late. Of course, it was way faster and soon disappeared from my eyesight. But gosh. It’s something I’ll never forget, one of my best African memories…
You are a saint. We need more people like you, I honour and respect you.
You wouldn’t believe how many times i’ve brought home stray animals (mainly kittens and cats), and I’ve helped a little mouse back to health when it was hurt, and released him when he was better, I’ve also helped little birds and if I couldn’t help them I would pray to God to take them back home, then burry them.
